Why Do You Need a Graphic Designer?

Visuals catch the attention of their readers and are easily remembered. Often these visuals are the first chance to impress a potential customer and hold their attention. Usually, small businesses and non-profits do not have the staff or expertise to take their ideas and make them work in a medium they are unfamiliar with.

Graphic Designers create ideas to inspire, inform and captivate consumers using images, text and graphics. They have the ability to tell visual stories. Visual journalists create informational graphics, known as infographics in print or digital form to help get key messaging out to the stakeholders they are wanting to reach. Whether you want to reach customers with your website, want a striking logo or infographic, or some compelling words in a blog, graphic designers have the experience and skills necessary to do the work for you.

Infographics

Informational graphics, or infographics, are a visual representation of information that aims to make the data easily understandable at a first glance using a collection of imagery, charts, and minimal text. This gives an easy-to-understand overview of a topic. They are often used to communicate large amounts of data in a simple visual way, to break down complicated steps so it is easier to understand, or to visually show a list of items such as a top 10 of something.

These can be used many times as long as the information on them stays relevant and can be easily shared on social media sites.

Printed Documents

Newsletters, brochures, business cards, posters and other printed materials are a great way to distribute information to a wide audience. Each type of printed material has its use, from delivering information on services, advertise the company or an event, or promote products.

Many of these can be designed for a digital world ie: emailing a newsletter to employees or shareholders. What type of document you build depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Presentations

Microsoft’s presentation or slideshow software, PowerPoint, is used to help get your point across in presentations, and to share your stories with your audience. PowerPoint Presentations can often be tedious and boring, but they don’t have to be.

Slides should be used to enhance your storytelling, not take it over, and with dynamic images on your slides, you will keep the audience engaged and on their toes. To ensure there is consistency with your brand, take the time to build a Master Slide Deck which can be used for many different presentations.
